View Full Version : Gorilla in 2ft tank

Another dangerous attempt:
Housing 2 pseudacanthicus in a small 2ftx18inch tank. Running on 2028 and one pack of coral chips. Past experience, if water parameter is not properly controlled, it is veri deadly. hence feeding regime is alternate day of once every 3 days.
Ever since i took him out of the comm tank, the odontoides seem to grow nicely. All ready for any pleco show. His mate is hiding in the small size PVC pipe. Goodness me too small for him to get his bulky body in at all.

Edmundo, don't tempt fate.
2028 water is not alot. you need probably another 2 x 2feet for filtration. I saw this picture in AF today coincidentally, and I want to tell you.. but I don't have an AF account.
take it out..
2 feet fishkeeping standard very high lei.. even zebra can be fatal.

Ya, i totally agree with you but i do not have tank as of now. U clear your planted can? what you mean by 2x2feet? you mean tank size or another filter?

I guess you don't have tanks..... sigh
I mean u need big filters. Remember the japanese magazine? One L25 per 2 feet, but the filters are a few size much much bigger from a centralize system

den maybe i add one more cannister filter plus connecting another 2ft at the bottom to increase the water volume. I have another 2 tanks at the top running on a tetra120 and 2 internal filters, both tank are "interlink".

Spot on. Hot blooded Pseudacanthicus will look stunning if you keep them alone. The broken spike, torn fins and etc will be gone. Because they are ready to breed. The males are pretty when they flare up! I can only drool..

Edmund,
I was wandering why u will put a cave that is small for the Male to go in???
I thought from the pic,it looks just nice for him to squeeze through. Size of opening should be around 4.5-5inch all round rite??

Hi MX, the cave is a 4inch cave, i would not say iz a cave, but jus a hideout. The gshw can oni stick his head in only, if entire fish gona go in. for sure stuck to death. A good 7 inch cave should be jus nice. To be frank, kinda half heart try, cos even if ican find a cave, the tank look small too. i did found some cave made out of roof tiles, semi circle but open ends.

A old timer got it from TW years back as 'Gao Shen Hu Wen'. Thick massive and hi-body with Tiger strips. Whether is this a species of itz own is still unknown. From my knowledge, you cannot find this speices in the exporter list. :)

Really humbling experience to have meet some of these Shifu. This piece is my favourite Pleco now. My GF has named it Henry... as it looks like her Cairne Terrier which is called that name also. I just called it GSHW (Gao Shen Hu Wen or Got Super Hump What?!) Although I am not sure if it is a boy or not, what do you think boss?

He is a one very good natured and gentle male. Really well behave. Never gets into a fight with any other pleco. Always give way. Really love his disposition.
