New Tank set - Ceramic Tile Base

My new 5ft setup. My 5ft tank runs on down flow suction support by a sump, it is impossible for me to add sand/substrate to get a touch of natural. hence i come out with the idea of paste ceramic tiles on the bottom of the tank. Finally this project is complete waiting for the fishes to return. Sad to speak, no plecos or maybe one? this is made purposely to house rays.

maybe this idea can help some pleco kakis to revamp their tank during this period of low supply in pleco stock. At least to sustain the itch and fill the empty minds.

Damage of cost :

Material : S$0.90(7% gst) for 32 piece of 8"x8" tile.
Labour: i get my collleague to help. (zero cost)
Duration: less den 4 hrs

How did you vut the tiles?
Silicon onto glass?
I hope you contructed it so there are no "air pockets" under the tiles.
The design should make maintenance a breeze!

use machine cutter to cut the tiles. i ask my colleague to help. the perimeter of the tile is silicon and the gaps are seal off with silicon, yah, i read the concern you raise. i hope thing will go fine. initially i wanted to glue the entire base with silicon but didnt buy enuff so left to seal the permiter of each tile.
