Hi guys,

Have not shot any pleco pictures for almost 2 years. So decided to give it a go, though not with my camera, but with my phone!!

Here's my L95, a recent acquisition. This piece is about 8 inch.
http://i196.photobucket.com/albums/aa145/ngminchai/P990i/DSC00087.jpg

Here are the tankmates..Corydoras narcissus. I have 8 of them, together with other corydoras.

http://i196.photobucket.com/albums/aa145/ngminchai/P990i/DSC00085.jpg

A close up.

http://i196.photobucket.com/albums/aa145/ngminchai/P990i/DSC00086.jpg

And I also have some albino Corydoras sterbai var. 'Albino'. Cute little fellows.

Not really that good. Camera phones still have a lot of limitations. Noise and resolution are 2 major issues. And for some of the models, shutter lag is a real killer. For grab shots, they can still pass, for something more serious, cannot make it lah.

Anyway, plecos and corydoras are easier to shoot as they can be quite stationary. Unlike cichlids.

Benny, is it true tat long snout cory need colder water? saw some fowleri at nks last nite and rather tempted...... :p

Not really, but they will do well in cooler water.

Long snout corydoras usually forage for food IN the substrate, not ON the substrate. This usually indicated that the water in their habitat is faster flowing. In areas with faster flowing water, there is more surface agitation and will definitely be cooler than habitat with still water. If you keep them in slightly warmer temperature, you need to make sure the oxygen content in the water is kept up by using a venturi spray for your filter outlet or a good air pump. Warmer waters have lower oxygen carrying capacity.

These longer snout species are relatively sensitive to ammonia and nitrate. In other words, requires for clean water/substrate is more critical. If there are dead spots in the substrate, the resulting hydrogen sulphite gases release when they put their long snout in will definitely NOT be good for them.

Most wild caught specimens imported seems to be suffering from 2 problems, flukes and worms. As such, if you do get them, you need to clear them of the external parasites and also deworm them. After that, they should be relatively easy to keep in a low bioload tank, together with your plecos.

Hope that helps.

Taking photography requires more than just camera and photographer lah ...

U should ask benny how much light he uses for each shot ...

I'm a poor man .. so I use only torch light for metering ...

No leh. For the shots here, all use just 1 FL tube from the hardware store. Nothing special. No additional light. But of course got more light will be better.

Don't forget, I am shooting plecos and corydoras. They keep still.

How to differentiate between the two species?

Anyway, here's a close up showing the "chew chew".
