Sharing with members here my pair of L19.

the male is measured at 16" TL, forgot to measure the female, estimated 2 to 3" smaller....she seems to be more rounded, no chew on cheek and little on pects. So glad no fighting, no torn fins nor injuries so far....

No breeding article available so still planning the size of cave, anyone want to sponsor a cave? I write your name on it. :p Would be happy if they stay healthy with me....think impossible to breed.

Not a great pic but was trying to show that the female with almost as high a dome head as the male but has a much shorter tail which give it a giant fat tadpole look.

Hope you enjoy viewing them.

agreed, i'd definitely make up a wooden hollow/cave for them, dont see why you shouldn't be the first to get them to breed:D

How long does it take for one about 4 inches to hit to about 10 or more? 5 years?

Will never happen? As in it will not grow from 4 inches to 10 inches in captivity?

I have two Panaque nigrolineatus that are nearing this size (25cm/10") that have grown from 10cm/4" and under in the 4 years I've had them. The larger of the two was measured (properly) at 21cm/8" and the other at 18cm/7" both more than a year ago, and both have grown since then, being at least another inch larger.

So yes, I think it's definitely possible and achievable in 5 years, if not faster with the best care.

Sure bro.

The tank itself is 150x50x70cm about 450L/100G and currently has two Panaque nigrolineatus and 9 Panaque cf. armbrusteri "Xingu" and "Tocantins" all between 10cm/4" and 25cm/10" amongst other fish.

Filtration currently is 6000lph solids pump/pressurised pond filter, Eheim 2180, Fluval FX5 and Eheim 2252 (1200lph internal). Water changes are between 25-33% twice a week, sometimes more.

Food is lots of wood, probably about 30kg. I feed supplementary vegetables like carrot, sweet potato, broccoli, courgette, cucumber, swede etc about twice a week and a variety of wafer/pellets.

Thanks for the guide. Noticed you have like 30kg of wood. You mean they are that aggressive on the wood? Have you actually 'topped up' your wood before?:)

Meaning to say, have you ever encountered the need to add in new wood? Does your L190s actually consume all the wood in your tank? Dont think so rite?
