Hi guys,

A supplier of mine has sent me these photo's of some Hypans he has recently acquired. I already know alot about these including the exact catch location, depth ancd current of the water. so I have a pretty good idea what they are I just wanted to throw them out to you guys to see if anyone has there ID glasses  on......

They were all caught together, so don't be distracted by the variation of patterning.

Were they from Rio Iriri??
Im more interested in the location, current n depth more than the fishes. Do share with me the details.

Hi Chilliz,

When I got the e-mail about the location I was also very excited, it was like a snap shot of the amazon. I was amazed at deep they were caught.

"the L173 were catch it by the rio iriri and xingu in an afluente river, very deep like 48hrs in river. The contact told us the water was very deep 6-10mtrs and the current was very fast, it was dangerous and they were very difficult to catch by diving"

Dont know the Temp or any parameters but I do know the water was clear. Its only a paragraph but what a lovely image it paints.

Well, is it at the junction of Iriri and Sao Felix? I was told that not many people can travel down deep into the Iriri as they were occupied by some tribes. Isit true?

All i know about the collection is what I already posted. Personally I have not heard of any tribes issues surrounding that area. But I have heard that the vast areas of the Iriri are treacherous, very isolated, very difficult terrain and generally a very difficult tributary to get around on. The river is full of huge boalders, and the water is sometimes very deep and other times not deep enough for a kayak to float. I got some that information from an article written by Heiko Bleher in PFK this year sometime.
