Currently I have 6 pieces of L91 in a comm tank and the two larger ones, 1 suspected to be male and the other female always get into fights. I noticed that the male is always bitten at the back, behind the dorsal area. May I know if there are any chance that the female wants to breed but the male is not ready? The male is abt 6.5inch SL while the female is 6inch SL. Could it be that the female is too big for it to handle?

Btw, does these 2 looks different in their head shape and body structure, especially the thickness of the pectoral and the spikes on it??

Males got bitten on the back does not looks good. There are chances where the females are ready but the male is not, but it would not be the case where the female bite the male and not the other way round. The Male would occupy the cave n refuse entry.
If he has the chance, he would chase the female around and hope that she will willingly go inside, unless Leprocanthicus has different breeding method as the rest.

Some pics would help..

The two looks different. One has sharper features etc. This kind of fights happen only when the male is parked inside the cave. Lets take now for example when the male is injured. It is hiding below one of the dw and the female did not disturb him at all. My guess is that the male is too small for the female

if the male is bitten at the back, it may not mean that he is not ready and bitten by the female.

it could mean, another male trying to show his dominance and want to take over the cave but your male defended his cave well...:)
