View Full Version : Breeding of L134
Hello everybody! This is my 1st post here. :)
Recently i bought 2 pieces of L134. They are now placed in a 3 feet tank with some other small plecos. Filtration is by a hang-on filter plus added aeration from an airstone and inside the tank i placed some driftwoods and caves. Base of the tank is bare.
As i want to try breeding it, may i ask what are the things i would need to do/get in order to do so? I understand i will need to get a few more L134s so as to increase the chances.
Thanks in advance!

I thought someone would have replied.
There are a few essential things to make the environment conducive for spawning. First, clean water and feed them well. The cave is important too. The size and shape. Try to get the german ones. They are real easy for pleco to spawn. Also, one important factor - the pair must be mature and "zai"
Great first post. I am a 134 fan.

Taken from PF
L134 seem to be one of the more aggressive species when it comes to sexual aggression.
You very often hear fish keepers say “Oh my L134,s are very aggressive and will damage each other a lot”
One way to try and combat this natural tendency to “Bully” is to have a balance of more females than males and extra caves locating the caves as far apart as is possible with strong visual “indicators” to define territorial areas. Also as big a tank as is possible is the main way of helping spread the aggression.

IMO, if you intend to increase the group size, u have to bang in on good filteration system. 3ft + hangon filter may be insufficient unless u wana undertake daily water change regime. :)
