i would suggest, to leave it as it is...
If there isn't any loss colour or heavy breathing, just maintain good water quality. At most, up the temperature to 30c.
It's proven for mine and i have seen others recovering from it too. Just reduced the feeding and it will be ok. This species i have noticed that they are prone to such syndrome but it is not as deadly as what we have expected.

I have 2 and lost 1 already in a matter of 1 day (yesterday i found out the bloated stomach)...:(
The other also the same symptom....It's internal parasite which is common for wild plecos...
I got this Ocean Free 3rd generation and already applied to the water this morning....and water change 30% daily from tomorrow onwards. And this need to continue for 1 week.
Hopefully can save this fellow...

It should be fine...if u are looking as a main diet.
However, do take note that too much protein may not be too good for the fish, especially for fries. Furthermore, it would be impossible to see immediate effect on how a type of food can help their growth. They need time to show the effect.
I have stop using carni and pro-biotics for a long time since last year and switched to Hikari sinking cichlid excel as a main diet, meant for tanga fishes, which consist mainly wheatgerm and spirulina. The effect is similar to how they are fed with carni previously. At different stages, they should be fed with different kind of food, just like the food that we ate from young till old.
