irwin's setup in fish room may not apply to your case.
Water is pumped into water tank to age .... next dripped into fish tank 24/7 .... which shouldnt apply for your case

Me no pro la... just nonsense hobbyist! :D
I was wondering what you meant by DI...
Now I know, De-Ionized.
I don't use DI.
The filter cartridge are just mechanical and activated carbon granules.
I would prefer a carbon block but they dont have those available here.
In essense, these systems are used to "clean" our "new" water so you can change water directly to your tank.
Like all tools you should know what is its exact purpose and use it accordingly.
With DI comes resins which equates to cost.
So unless you really need to reduce TDS, DI is not really required.
You can save on the resin costs by using regular cartridge.
What I use is regular filter cartridge to filter from 25 to 5 micron, ideally I would like a 1 micron one.
This is followed by AC granule cartridge to remove chloramine.
Note if the water flow is too fast the AC won't have a chance to do its work.
Same goes if you have a carbon block.

oh ok. so after the water goes thru this DI filters with no TDS. Do i need to add anything to the water cause i guess all the good minerals are all gone too...
