Label as L97...... tipped off by Gecko to see this fellow...... so wat do you think this fellow is? Certainly at the state of stress when the picture was taken...... hence coloration is off-black... but pay attention to the white marking....

Great catch! L65 this size would have lost most of its markings...L97 also. L282 markings are more spotted unlike the L65....very interesting to find out more...wonder if any bro still have the Peru Pseuda (only pseuda found in Peru and no L-number) which Joy Aq brought in before...could this be it?

That Peru Pseuda was last known to be with bro Disturbed from AF. I wonder did he manage to sell it off during Aquarama.

Bro, never had a chance to talk to u in-depth about this, when u told me about it during ur wedding dinner.

Anyway, it dun seems to be a L97, cos the mouth/ head is longish.
L97 have a short mouth structure.
How has this fish been, after acclimatised??
Did it turn black???

Reason being, from the pix, i find that it shows it has black lines rather than white markings, esp from the base of the mouth, as a guide.
It shows more of a white base than black in the pix.
We cant be debating whether it is black or white markings rite, if we were to use zebras( not L46) as a guide.

If after acclimatised, it turns black, most likely what Thomas said, mite be true.
But i reckon that as a L185, rather than a L186.
For its flatter head, longer snout, head markings.

What do u guys think???

*My personal judgment may be wrong, as i merely interpret from the pix.

yup, i suspect it was a L185, if the fish has black markings, from ur 1st pix.
However, the underside of his body suggest a L97 to me.

L97 is more to a wormy-line markings, whereby L282 are spots.
Esp when they are around 7-8inches.
L97 will show a more faded translucent white marks at certain parts of their body.

However, i have not seen any semi-adult L65 before, only through online pix.

*If u refer the aqualog, the pix tat u took, looks almost the same.
Isit u cut n paste wan???? hahaha
Maybe u wanna research on the L97/282/65 - the clones

Anywae, thanks for ur compliment. I have still a long way to learn.
It all goes down to individual's interest and specialization.

Not only we make references from aqualog itself, we can tap on the knowledge of those hongkongers, taiwanese, japanese and those ang mo.
They have their own school of thoughts, we juz have to mixed them together to create our own.

Do note that L97's eyes is somehow quite different from the rest, unlike those patch black eyes, we saw in L160. The head is also somehow different, although they may be some variations.

No prob bro, that is the fun of plecoing, meself no more tank space so anytime got lobang, as long as I know what tickles you pink (or any bros' here) will call in....at least within the "family" can see live or pics updates.

BTW if you have space, can consider keeping this guy in white background? My L282 and L65 and peru pseuda in my old tank always orl ru ru, even white spots markings also become dirty brown:D Hopefully yours maintain the broad white marks into 12"+ would be spectacular!

If you hear or see L98, call me 24/7 too:o

But what did u bought as????
Patchy are determinants of its quality and not to be used as a guide for identification. Just like a badly smudge black black L273 and a clean coloured distinct spots L273.

As a guideline, do always observe its spots/markings, tail, head n eyes.
