View Full Version : Peru Green fading
Keepers who are now keeping or keepers who have once kept peru green can you please share your experience here? After I have transferred my 13" peru green to a 3'X2'X2' tank with a 4" L190 as its companion, I noticed the lines have started to fade off. May I know what caused the fading?:)

I have transferred this fellow into the tank for about a month already. Initially it was in a 2ft tank for quarantine and the dark stripes were prominent. Now this peru green is eating well I don't think it is stressed as sometimes it will come to the front to look for food. I think I will have to continue monitoring it to see how it will turn out. :)

IMo, sometime, fish coloration to prominent than usual is also a sign of distress...... :)

Bro
When I am back, I will search for my old pic of my monster peru green, about 14"+. It is possible that as they get bigger, the stripes disappear....
As long as the fish is eating well, behaving normally, should not be any problem.

Bro do you have any idea at around what size do they fully fade off? I think they look cool when the stripes are gone :D

Not sure when and if complete fade off, not even sure what their max size is (mine TL almost 15" if not more, was the biggest I had ever been able to find).
I totally agree that an emerald / jade green monster royal is one of the most if not the most beautiful royal....(ok the complete black guy with blue eyes is pretty cool too).:D

Hi bro thanks for your input.:D I got a question here. Do you know what caused the lines to reappear? Did you do like any water change that trigger the lines to appear and are the lines still prominent now?

sudden changes can cause lines to fade off. this is from my own observation with my plecos... but given good husbandry the lines will come back again.. no worries. but if u ever need a place to "put" them, kampung pleco services will do door to door collection services :D

interesting resemblance to Emperor red hooks and Heckel Discus ...
upon stress, bars will disappear ... while upon comfort .. bars are back and darker ...
