L63 = so call L24/L64

Reference made to Pleconia II, the book featured a few variant and claimed it is a L63.....

L24 is pseudacanthicus sp. serratus while L63 is pseudacanthicus cf serratus....

in relation, L63 should be carrying some traits of L24.... which so call L24/L64 does has the L24 traits....

I have seen pics of a "perfect" L63 in Taiwanese website before, free will find the link for you. L63 is a black pseuda with bright gold pect main spines and the two main spines of the caudal. You can miss it when you see it (imagine a black and gold rolex:p)!

I have seen 3 x L24/L64 in person and all 3 were 12" and above. It is more slender in shape and tail than L63. They are IMHO totally different fish.

Again IMHO, the L24/L64 is a new fish with no L number. Cos it looks like a L64 but has red tails and some brown / red in the body, someone came out with the L24/L64 tag. I do not think it is a hybrid as (including yours) I have never seen a single juvenile, let alone a juvenile shipment of 3 to 4". They are all big fish, hence most likely wild caught....who would breed a hybrid and keep until big big and release the fish one by one and sell for '00s only? Does not make commercial sense.

Auntie recent L63 look certain to be a mis-IDed..... in Hongkong context, L63 is light grey and wif full orange caudal..... when sotong was in taiwan recently, he snap a tank of plecos in Mr. Chui Aquarium..... i think i spotted a so-call L63... too bad, i was n0t there... for sure will ta pao de.... :)

looking at the head shape and color, it's very diff from L24/64, but guess its probably too small for comparison

I would like to say that they arent the same. Do refer to Pleconia 1, there is a L63 pix inside. Thou looks similar to L24, but there are a major differences between them.

Precisely, since L63 is scientifically term as Pseuda CF. serratus... they shld look similar to L24, just like L160, itz cousin will be P. CF. Spinosus. there goes to speak, L600 is P. CF. Leopardus..... see the CF. means?
