used to have one, a small one from joy aquarium. it perished liao due to pop eye:(
however the coloration seems different from yours...think the spots are white (or at most cream), not goldish spots like yours

got a full body shot???
the tail can tell a difference between L65, peru, L97 n L282.
L65 has vertical black n white strips.
Peru has more of a uneven white markings.
L97 has a faded white spots.
L282 has a prominent white spots

The tail is just part of the identification factors to take note, the head structure and the spots also plays a part.

L65 with black strips are refered to the tail portion where majority is overpowered by white markings, thus it will seems for them to have black strips. Furthermore, ur L97 have yet to stablize when u took the pic, i believe it should have shown his true colour now. Do note that the markings will fade over time, until it turns into greyish.

On the other hand, L65 will loses their spots when they gets bigger, similar of a L97. so i guess, to get a nice L65 and groom them well, muz apply the L273 theory, the lesser the black the better. To which, select a L65 with bigger spots. No small spots, cos the spots will gets smaller n smaller as they grow.

this is the L65 that i have gathered.

http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee138/hotchiliz/L651.jpg

Note that its tail seems total white with black strips.

L282 has always been said to have a mustard yellow spots as compared with a L97. The colour of the spots has always been an indicator for both species. To add on, for one the spots will remain while the other will fade, especially for a 8inch above specimen.

L282:
