Guys

I put a small CL into one of my 4' zebra tank to keep the snail outbreak under control, but now having a freaking hard time capturing that guy out. Due to DW, caves, etc, unless I tear down the tank, I can't catch him.

Anyone tried DIY fish trap using plastic bottle with the top cut and inverted and put food inside? Or any other suggestions are welcome. If CL can crush snails, it might have a go at zebra babies next time.

Any suggestions appreciated (thought about mini spear gun but that guy is speedy):D

Maybe can try at night when everything is dark. Suddenly switch on the lights and immediately try to net the fella.
Another is to remove all the dw and caves so the loach does not have any hiding spots.
Another is use one very big and one small net. Place the big net in one end of the tank. Use the small net to chase the loach into the bigger net.

All the best in capturing the fell.

Bro

I tried all the above except for removing the DW and caves...I just added a new colony and forgot to remove that CL before hand. I have like 20+pcs of DW inside:(

Hmmm.. put a real sexy female CL inside the trap as bait? ahhaha....

Maybe have to do a 2 person job. One person chase the CL out, the other standby to catch :) Am always avail for such a project... Cheers!!

I think that the only way u can catch that fellow is by removing all ur caves and driftwoods, and the cl has no place to hide. They are super fast swimmer, good hide and seek player...

Last time i tried to catch 15pcs 4inches CL from my pond river, I had to remove all the lotus vases, driftwoods and 1 big net, then only i could get them one by one...:(

All the best with catching that fellow.

Pleased to intro Botia striata. Don't buy CL. It is hysterical animals. Botia striata is excellent loach. love snails till no ending. dont hide too much. I recommend Botia striata if you want to control snail population

And yes. fishing method is the best way to catch loach.
