Dear all,
My pair just spawn , :D I saw some yellow round thing in the tank , have a closer look and I saw some fries . Female should be L 66 and male should be L 333 . The male are still in the cave , not sure if I should take all the fires in a breeding tank or leave them alone .
The tank only have this pair , and no other fishes except the babies .

Congratulations. Pls leave them alone because the tank only have this pair and no other fishes. The babies will be stronger and ratio to grow up will definitely be higher. Then let the next spawn happen by not disturbing anything includes:
1) adding another female to increase birth rate
2) touch the rock
3) arrange the caves and etc.
You can continue to maintain the tank and water change. no problem. I have a feeling your pair will continue to spawn for another 10-12 months because your environment is really conducive (you gave them space). Alot of pleco keepers just stock pile their tank and fishes become really stress..
congratulation again.

hi redrex, all of us can disagree on id-ing of pleco, but many of us will not disagree.. the growing out of the fries is tougher than breeding. Therefore... ahem... have them in the same parent main tank first because it has the equal water condition
Death will start after the yolk is finish up. Do you believe it?

Death will start after the yolk finished up ? really ah :(.. It my first spwan so i really have no idea what will be the best for the fries . What will be their first food ? can give pellets ? those break into fine like powder ?

I just dont know why. it happened to my fries. the fries are pretty strong when they still have the yolk sac. only after 4th week or so.. they start to die.
first food, for me, i will feed crashed hikari carnivores wafer. no need powder form.

I am expecting the next fries to be out in around 10 days , shall i leave the fries in the tank with the parents ?
Got mix views , i also not sure if leaving with the parents is a better way , the parents will take care of them ?

Cannot try anymore leow. Your female eat back the fries.. I don't know. It goes to show some fishes are just not steady..
oh wait. kick out by male means QC fail. but if eat back the fries when free swimming.. then its a problem. usually.. the fries free swimming the parents will not bother with them and let them hide and seek..
two matters altogether..
1 - kick out with egg sac by papa means... QC fail
2 - free swimming released by papa.. no problem!

reading this makes me excited...
my male is now in the cave with eggs (probably eggs are now 3 days old).. am also having mixed views whether to put the guys in a breeder box after a week or just let the papa take care until they ownself swim out.
last i tried taking out papa was impossible.. even upside down the cave in and out of water also die die dont come out.. i gave in and let it stay in the cave in the end. :o

Well, I monitoring now . It the 4th patch now I think . The first patch about 2cm now , I left 5 I think . Can I release them into the tank . Cause I want to take up the cave and throw the eggs out for this patch . The female left the cave 10 days already .
Will the fries be safe if they are 2cm with the parents?
