I have 2 Leprocanthicus with big white spots on the head, edge of the eyes and fins. Some of the spots are very close together. I think it's fungus. Any fungus medication to recommend for pleco? I'm currently treating with melafix and salt.

fungus is usually secondary infections resultant from exposed flesh ...

Scrapping away of fungus area ... along with direct PP application is one of the fastest recovery method ...

Ya agree.......... :)

no need to scrap off, catch the entire fish out, and wipe off using PP. But if no confident dun try.

The safest i recommend is:
DO a 30-50% WC, add top half the volume of wat was siphon off, add Pimafix.... two laters, top up to usual water level and add another dosage of pimafix........ i tried this method is it works wonder...

alternatively, get the yellow powder(Jap type) or any off rack Anti-fungus will be able to do the job.

Cheers :)

Warning about using PP. If overdose the solution will eat into the flesh after it has destroyed the fungus. Remedy to it will be hydrogen peroxide (if I remembered correctly) which can be found in pharmacy.

OMG, tats quite serious bro....... check ur filtering system in the meantime, i suggest u shut ur filter down or tret them in an hospital tank... likely the environment is causing the prom.

It has spread in the tank. I have shutdown my OHF, now running on a Eheim 2217. I'm continuing with Melafix. Is it ok. What should I do with the OHF? Just clean it before I use it?

Bro what's the reason for shutting the OHF? I would suggest that the OHF be cleaned and maintain clean water. It seems to me that fungus infection occurs when there are uneaten food stucked in the OHF of maybe in the DW. It clears off in a few days once I have cleaned the filter.

If a speedy recovery is required, a clean environement need to be present, even the substrate may aso be a possible cause. the ideal will be transfer them into hospital tank and treat separately with oni a air bubble filter type shld be suffice.......

Having the same thoughs, the filter or even the substrate need to be thoroughly clean. Bro LTO, wat filtering system u using?

Bro Edmundo, I'm running a 4 feet 2 tier OHF with Eheim 2217 canister. I did 25% water change last Sunday. Shld I do another 50% water change. Clean the OHF that I have shutdown and restart the OHF again and add Melafix?

imo, there is alot of method of treating, every bro here has it way of doing. in this situation, i will shut all out, clean thoroughly includes pipelines. AT the same time, treat the fishes with Pimafix. Melafix may n0t work. I will only use air pump since n0t gog to feed. Once recover den will turn on every thing back to normal. For the early stage of restart try n0t to overload the filter cos system has n0t mature yet.

From wat i see on ur fishes, i though of a new way of treating but i haven try:
1) catch the fish out.
2) Use cotton butt dip into Pimafix, and clean off those cloudy fungus.
3) release back into tank and add Pimafix medication into tank.

Similar to using PP method but use of Pimafix.
