Just wonder, if a 1200l/h canister filter is sufficient for a 522 bare tank?
Was thinking of using my old tankset, if can't sell it by the time my new tank comes, but with only the canister filter.
What type of a comm would be recommended? Personally considering setting up a L134 breeding tank if possible :o

it sound suffice for a L134s breeding colony but 2nos. shld be it perfect. :)
Enough for you to breed feeders for your aro. :p
Come on lah bro do you want to take out your canister every week to do cleaning? Add another OHF and let the canister do the bio filteration. This will save you lots of trouble

The estimated volume of a 5x2x2 is about 550 litres of water, based on the minimum 3times the volume of tank water rule, your 1200l/hr is borderline lah ! - provided the bioloading is minimum too ! :)

Best if modify a pre-filter before the inlet. I do that to all my eheim canisters. The canister will last very long between cleaning. Just need to rinse the prefilter weekly.

Got any pics or illustration of this pre-filter?
I dun wanna use an OHF as the probable new location of my 522 tankset will best be w/o an OHF or it'll make my living rm look unsightly :p
Would a Eheim Pro III (1700l/h flow-rate) be too strong for L134?

What's the price diff between a Pro 3 & a 2260?
2260 looks like a gigantic trash bin, if I'm not wrong :p
Comparing to the Laguna trash bin, which is most cost effective?

laguna got many series ...
but if u want value for money ... 2260 is around $380 I think ..
Laguna is at least $500 I think .. but much bigger filter volume .. and easier maintainence ... with UV as well ...

Thanks for your info, think budget wise, 2260 may be a good choice.
Now is see whether can sell the tankset or not.
If can't sell, will set up a thread in the gathering sect to invite u guys to come over to help me shift my tankset :D
