http://i259.photobucket.com/albums/hh299/0001T/Cnv0287.jpg

notice the growth around its eyes and gills (or the head area)...what's that?

this happened when i 'backside itchy' intro a catfish without quarantine. this catfish has similar problem but i tot it was just a abrasion initially, that's why i intro without quarantine:(

in total there are 3 plecos which contracted the disease, a L24, a L65 and this L273. both L24 and L65 had recovered, including the host catfish!

but this L273 condition deteriorate! it is now separated from the tank; it is still eating though. melafix/ pimafix does not seems to help.

anyone can advice?

bro, u can ask auntie for help. Some of her plecos also have this problem last time, machiam like fungus thingy. Dunno if she managed to overcome it or the disease overcome her fishes.

If not, try texting some other "GAO REN".

Help u ask her later. Now in school.

I had the same problem when I bought a blue eye, red fin from her but the disease ran its course and the fish healed. I did not use any medication but just partial water changes interval of 2-3 days in between. Hope this helps:o

"Gao Ren" like lizardking, gecko, yongwahng, atlas, etc. They are former pseuda hardcore keepers which i think, might face similar problems like this before. If not can look for akoh. It might helps.

Btw, auntie told me her fishes whom faces such problem normally goes to heaven. She also not sure of what medication to use. Last resort is to ask Malcolm liao.

ur water parameter is giving lotsa prom i think. get this fellow into a hospital tank and maintain your maintain at the same time be4 seeing more casualties.

This is not an treatment advice but wat i will do if i encounter this. Personally i have some handy medication standby with me all the time. namely, primafix, yellow powder (japan brand), PP crystal (deadly if overdose, my fav but will n0t use unless all fail)..Potozin or sterazin ( from waterlife)

Use Pp solution to clean off the fungus(net the fish out of water, wipe fungus off with PP solution), den add yellow powder into treatment tank with heater (30 degree) on.......... maintain WC every two days and add yellow powder. Salt solution too.

Or use protozin or sterazin int treatment tank with heater on. Using oni simple filter with no food during treatment. WC every 2 days and continue to add correct dosage of medicine.

Was introduce to another medicated powder recently...... called "see wan saw" (read in hokkien) used commonly among fish farmers....... but n0t easy to get this....

Hope ur fish wil recover soon.......... cheers :)

the catfish was the carrier of the bug:mad:...it has the fungus but it could have scraped it so it looked like a open wound...so i tot open wound should be alright and in it went into the tank:(

who knows...i started to see the L24 and this L273 having fungus growth...later the L65...

there seems to be a little improvement in the L273 after dosing interpret anti-fungus...hopefully it will recover

think i never learn...i lost a 7in L14 sometime ago when i intro neon tetra without quarantine....i did it again:( hopefully no casualty this time round

Bro could the thing on your L273 not fungus? I think if it doesn't heal you should try the pp way to help reduce that infection. Anyway do remember to QT anything before you add them into your tank. I've learnt it the hard way too. :(

i am observing...it has something to do with the immunity of individual fish...cos L24 & L65 healed with just doses of salt...but this L273 doesn't.

since now i am seeing some improvement...i will monitor it further.
