How to differentiate between all the different Royals?
Bro maybe for a start you may want to specify which plecs you want to know how to differentiate? By your topic, the discussion is too big and can go into many pages.;)

My motive is not about ID-ing what I have (Actually that would be nice too) but generally, after visiting LFS with royals... I get more confused which is which. Maybe something like the undermentioned format may help the royal lover noob distinguish better?
L27A - XXX colour, spots & stripes, colour is more baised towards xxxxxx....
L27B -
L27C
L191
and so on...

How to differentiate between all the different Royals?
Wow tats a tough one......
Let me try a few....
L330 - belly is spotted althot body may show normal wormline marks.
Lda63 - WHite horizontal stripes..... juv specimen wif red tinted finnages.
Peru green - looks like L191 however, gold triming on caudal is one of its feature of ID.
L191 - looks like PG but eye is dull, frankly for juv it is hard to tell PG from L191 apart.
jus trying if wrg dun scold me............ keke :p

L27B -
L27C
L191
and so on...
Ok bro I try using your method to describe them but it might sound confusing. I'm not very experienced so any mistakes please pardon me :o
L27a: Generally looks like L330 a.k.a watermelon pleco. Colour wise they come in green and black. They may be spotted on body and can have some stripes but the pectoral fins are not spotted. This is where it is different from L330.
L27b: Never see before so cannot describe
L27c (araguaia): Also known as goldline. As the name stated, it is differentiated through its gold coloured lines stripes.
L27 (xingu), Lda 63: There are two kinds in the market. One is the so called normal singu and the other, xingu platinum. These guys come in stripes. The so called normal ones have yellowish/silver stripes while the platinum one, as the name says it, the stripes are silver in colour. Young specimens can be yellowish in colour against black stripes.
Tocantins: They have yellow stripes against black stripes. Colour is based towards yellow.
Tapajos: Never see before so cannot describe
Tapajos goldline (new sp): Flat body and has gold stripes. However, the gold colour is more intense than L27c. This fellow has U-shaped dental structure.
L190: Silver stripes against black stripes. Colour based more towards silver? However, there are some that have very silver stripes and it looks a bit platinum. It is differentiated from xingu through its head shape. Its head is less tapered.
L191: Green in colour with dull eyes with broken black coloured stripes.
Peru Green: Green in colour with black stripes. I differentiate PG with L191 through their shade of green. However, this can be misleading as I have only seen big specimens of PG and small specimens of L191 so cannot come to a concrete conclusion of how to differentiate them.
L90 (papa panaque): They come in 2 different kinds. One is black in colour and the other is silver body with black wavy lines. They are different from the other panaques as they have relatively small eyes compared to other royals. When grown up, they have lyre tail which is quite attractive.
L203: Black body with broken silver wavy lines. The overall appearance leans towards more towards black imo.
Lda65 (cannot miss out this piece): This fellow is black in colour but from some pictures they look a bit greenish. That's all I know about this fellow. Lets wait for akoh to come and describe more with pictures of his I cannot remember how many incher :p :D.
The abovementioned are all based on my method of id ing and might differ from other hobbyist. Please correct me if there are any mistakes. :o

I remember reading somewhere that Lda65 and L203 are differentiated by the Taiwanese through counting the no. of that thing that look like scales (cannot remember the name) on their body. Akoh had a big L203 I think :)

When we mention goldline, normally we are refering to L27c araguaia. The main difference between thunder and araguaia is that thunder has a flatter body shape. They also differ on dental structure. L27c has a V-shaped dental structure while thunder is U shaped
