Hi all,

When you service your filtration, do you flush the piping as well? I find it disastrous if it is not flush......... often, when your fish get infected with fungus, you starts medication and WC, or den starts clearing up filtration. However, it does not help and it spreads. Do you believe this could be the cause of the persistance fungal attack.

For, i do believe. Cos i experienced it couple of times.

I do see some fluffy stuff or bio-growth in the pipes.
If you clean your filter without cleaning the pipes it might be a half-job with the stuff in the pipe not cleaned.

However I believe if you medicate the meds should hit and sterilize the stuff in the pipe too.

But if you clean the pipes you do close-out a possible reinfection factor.

I doubt medication can do much on sterilize those "built up" on th einner walls of pipes.

Jus to share a experience of mine, my aro got fungal attack, first time i treat with PP, no help, chipped scale, den again, fungal attack and causes another chip scale. PP used in both ocassion. Den come the 3rd time, more serious this time. i shut the entire filter off. Siphon off 40% of water, add primafix n repeat dosage 2 days later with water change. Lasted about 1 week. When i shut the filter off, i take the opportunity to service entire sump and pipings...... You know wat, when i restart the system, i see all well-being inside the tank enjoying a new list of life. Not totally due to flushing of piping but it plays a part in it, i reckon. :)

personally wouldnt worry about buildup in pipes ...

instead would be more concerned with those in gravel and filter etc ...

if chemical/medications cant work on buildups in pipes ... medical clinics in matured estates like tiong bahru & telok blangah would be blooming with business ... cos their pipes are easily over 20 years old
