Very interesting links. Seems like plecos are rather aggressive too when it comes to breeding. Thanks Gecko.

Just when you sold me your idea about "focus" on your zebra project...
You are now suddenly a L134 owner!
HAHAHA :D
They will grow on you.
Also, I find that mature specimens are a lot easier to ID sex.
Much easier than L046.
Condition being that they are mature specimens and have been in a tank for some time.
As you know the odontodes may drop when out of season or stressed.
Then all bets are off!

L134s are definately my secondmost favourite L number after L46... I have about 7 juveniles now...
For me, I find that the best way to breed any fishes is still to get a number of juveniles 6-8 and grow them out...

Question. Why is there the sudden hype for L134? Or has it been always like that for this species? Are they so rare that they are always snapped them up whenever a shipment comes? The market seems to be flooded with them with shipments coming into a LFS every week or 2 and getting picked quickly.
For myself, i didn't know that they were such a popular species. They caught my eyes when i was flipping through my Profile100 pleco magazine looking for my first pleco to keep. Couldn't find them previously and suddenly now, i'm spoilt for choice. :D

L134 has always been popular. The current surge in demand is mainly due to the influx of many new plec hobbists and also a worry of import ban which drives the sales of the other sp. as well. For small sized plecs, there are not that much choices too other than the hypans...
Maybe you contributed to the hype too:D, there were words out there that a famous AQ Mod had to import L134 from Taiwan, that created some buzz, I think:p
Personally I was drawn in by the intriguing new markings as all the past shipments are either stripes and/or dots.
Just my HO...

Famous AQ mod? Shouldn't be me liao. But import from Taiwan, yes. :D. But now no need already because there are so many to choose from right here in Singapore. Cheaper somemore. :D
