wow.... tats shocking....... bro, whats your tank size? changing 50% of water in a big tank and and snall tank does diff alot......
Big can be 5ft and above and small can be from 1ft - 4ft.....
Looks like your plecos is kill by chlorine intoxication..... try adding anti chlorine while changing water.....
if you wana make drastic water change, top them up in interval spanning acorss a few days if possible. it does help..... tats wat i did if i g0t to change 50% of water in my 2x1.5x1.5 tankset..... i will oni top up 25% and few days lata toping up the remaining 25% w/o siphoning any more water....

adding salt should not introduce any issues to plecos as long as they are dissolved prior addition ...
Essentially .. some questions to be answered for easier assistance:
- Please elaborate on tank setup (tank size, tank livestock, filtration system, other tank equipments)
- why would u wanna do a 50% water change?
- wat are the additives introduced during water change?
- how long have the plecos been with u ?
- wat are the diets introduced to the plecos?
Cheers

Yes bro DW will cause pH to drop but if it has been used for sometime already then I don't think it's your DW

1. Ranchu not recommended to keep with Pleco as they are parasite carriers
2. Bro remember next time if your tank is very dirty, let the filter do its work. If need to change a large amount add in the necessary things like anti chlorine and top up the water slowly
3. Try not to add salt unless it is sick
4. Being with you for one month already, it should be relatively stable
5. No issue with this food

bro, whether to put anti chlorine is subjective, most of the time i dont put, but that dun mean dun have to put. Whenever i observe some wrong with the fish breathing, i will introduce anti chlorine.... i keep aros, so they are more sensitive to chlorine then plecos, by norm. i'm not implying tat oone have to keep aro as a guide to check chlorine content, but generally, as a guide, if you change more than 20% for small tank, do add anti-chlorine. since your tank is 4ft, 50% WC is a must to add anti-chlorine.h
mine water change is normally 20%-30%.
If you need assistance, i dun mind droping over to render some help...
Can i ask you, your other tank mates survive?

the most impt question is how long the water is prior to the 50% change.
2 weeks? :)
2 weeks is not too old. so my opinion is probably chloromine and ph that kill your fish. btw the ph from my tap is 9.0.

Sorry about your loss, but it is avoidable...
Anti-chlorine and anti-chloromine must be added before and during water change. It is not recommended to change more than 30% each time.
A bottle of genesis cost only $4 and is a cheap way to protect your collection. If you need to change 50% for whatever reason, add the required recommended dosage and most importantly trickle in the new tap water slowly, it is a pain but sometimes I take more than half an hour to refill 15% of my 4 footer. This will avoid drastic pH and temperature change...

can refill the tank directly from my tap for a 20% change?:)
I do that, but first I add in the anti-chlorine, etc first, then I refill the tank directly from the tap, and half way through add more anti-chlorine. The tap is on a slow flow...
