18" no less:eek:

With the Suttonorium easier available, this other blue eye is getting rare.

From photography perspective, the HUE & Saturation looks tampered ...

with so little light hitting the head portion resulting in dark mask, its not likely possible for the eye to reflect so much light portraying the blue eye ... if there is suffice light, scales/grains should be visible like the body

I could be wrong ... but personally am not able to reproduce such photography results without any modifications

From body structure, etc, almost 100% sure it is, I know someone who has seen it in person.

Good catch btw, you really know your stuff in photography.

Riverwonders P cochliodon is 18" or 40+cm! Max size while important is not a useful indicator. What if you have 2 fish both about 20cm...

Genes, this is my observation, maybe if I find the time, I'll do a writeup with visuals. There are a few more (scientific) id keys which I am working on...including ray counts, armor scutes, etc, eye location....

This is the layman version that I gathered so far:

The P cochliodon is a more slender fish, even more 'slim' than the L27c goldline. The length of caudal fin from the peduncle is about 20 to 25% of the fish TL.

Small Tail (proportion)

The P suttonorum is a much higher domed shaped royal and looks very similar in shape and structure to the LDA65. The tail is about 30%+ of the fish TL.

High Dome

Big tail

Both fish are the same size.

Thanks Gecko. It very clear from the pics that the P suttonorum has a more rounder, circular head. Can that be another way to differentiate them? Or is this what you are referring to as a higher dome?
