AMazon never seem to stop producing new plecos, or should i say there are still plenty undiscovered plecos swimiming around waiting to be discovered.

Recent meet up with Mr. Ingo Seidel, Mingxin and I were introduced to this new discovered specimen from Rio Jatapu. The juvenile specimen looks jus like a L114 and the collected adult specimen is total black with some tinted orange fringes on the caudal and dorsal fins.

Waiting for Mingxin to share for on this fellow.

Could this be another species related to leopardus? L114, LDA07,LDA73,L600(not recognise)

hmm i thought is only some L numbers other than L114 and L600? if this is a new discovery there might be a chance

interesting contrast between the juvenile and adult specimens.

Actuali after speaking to Mr. Ingo, wat is said is true, if you want female, the best chance is buy from juv. So if you see C328 L114 missing in numbers, dun be surprise....... :D

Interesting....only clue that the juve could grow up to that adult is the spots still slightly visible in the dorsal fin. If newly discovered, seems like a big leap of faith to conclude these 2 are the same species, unless of course that particular juve or a similar ones were grown and kept to adulthood....the shape of the head (in adult much bigger in proportion to body) and body shape (juve is more cigar shaped) point to 2 different sp.

L203 was thought to be different from LDA 65 during the early years after discovery, likewise LDA63 and L27 Xingu...juve can grow up to look very different....just wondering how the conclusion was made for these 2 plecs.

Really cool how the adult fish has black eyes when you are expecting golden ones, it is really a new sp.:)

Ingo mentioned about the L203/LDA65 and L191/peru green, that these 2 are the same fishes. Reasons for being, why we can never see the adult/ juvenile of each fishes, is due to the trade.

He mentioned that these fishes, no matter how big or small, fetches the same price, not by it's size but quantities. So, instead of selling big L191 at $xx per pcs, they sell more quantity of small L191 at the same price, or vice versa for the peru green.

How true is the fact, we can only listen 50-50. Ultimately he is the one whom has seen the collection area and spoke to the locals.

He also mentioned about the L25 sao felix, where he said that the nicest colour ones are from Altamira, the Y-junction of the lower stream. Yet, we always know from importers through their trade list that Sao Felix command the highest price due to its intense redness.

So....who is right?? The one whom have went for actual expedition or the one whom brought in the fish from the list.

Wow, what a stunning adult.....

I am in a lucky position to be able to see many differant consul lists, mainly from Peru, Brazil & Columbia and very rarely do you even get a catch location.

For example for a a recently available Panaque the list description - Carachama Imperial - Panaque Sp. 4 to a box.

Any Guesses as to what this might be?

also once the fish reaches its destination the wholesaer/retailer may not note any useful information about the fish on its arrival and invariably will mark it up as the basic name e.g Royal Panaque. Sometimes the middle of the supplit chain arent interested in the finer details, as they most of there clients aren't interested. \however we all know that these details are important.

I will keep my eye out for any available Psueda from Brazil. And more Brazil fish are turning up on the Peru lists.

i had always thought that it is the exporters that does not wish to reveal the actual locations of their catch, to prevent intense competition among their competitors. That's why they mislead by telling a wrong location.
